NSDP Students Visit NGC
50 young men of the National Skills Development Programme (NSDP), which is managed by the Metal Industries Company Limited, Laventille, visited NGC on Friday 1st May 2009. This visit was undertaken as part of their Journeymen Trainee Programme. Hosted at the neighboring, PLIPDECO House Communications Centre, they received presentations on NGC and the Natural Gas Industry of Trinidad and Tobago from members of the Public Education, Corporate Communications.

The young men expressed great interest in the topics discussed, especially with regard to the new projects carded to come on stream. The group clearly appreciated this information, since new projects meant an expansion of the industry, and this translated into job opportunities of which they could take advantage.
They were also treated to a tour of the industrial estate which was a first for all the trainees. Most said that the tour served as an eye-opener to the realities of the energy industry in Trinidad and stated that information received was quite pertinent to their area of study.

It was refreshing to host the group who exhibited such overwhelming enthusiasm. The team at NGC felt privileged to see young men so eager about the future awaiting them on leaving school. The entire energy industry clearly stands to benefit from the work of the NSDP with the young men and women of Trinidad and Tobago.
