WHY FARM - NGC

NGC Above and Beyond Programme 2023 presents

We Help Youth Farm

About WHYFARM

WHYFARM offers professional development opportunities tailored for young adults, supporting career growth in agriculture. Through university courses, entrepreneurship programmes, and access to industry decision-makers, Alpha is helping to cultivate new talent within the food value chain, while empowering youth to become changemakers addressing global food challenges.

WHYFARM has expanded its reach to nine countries outside of Trinidad and Tobago—Brazil, St. Kitts and Nevis, Cameroon, Colombia, Haiti, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Zimbabwe—by leveraging open-access content and partnerships with government agencies, businesses, universities, and international organisations. A critical factor in this expansion has been the work of WHYFARM’s Young Ambassadors network. The organisation also partners with the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to contribute to policy development on agricultural innovation in the Caribbean.

NGC’s collaboration with WHY FARM

As part of NGC’s Above and Beyond programme, the company will collaborate with Alpha and WHYFARM on two initiatives. The first is a nationwide school tour to introduce Alpha’s educational comic, ‘AGRIMAN,’ and the message of sustainable agriculture, to primary school students. The second initiative involves developing the ‘Agrikoolture’ e-learning platform, which will offer digital resources and activities to encourage independent learning and youth engagement in agriculture. These efforts aim to inspire more young people to pursue careers in farming and agriculture
